Grinding and clenching—also known as bruxism—can expose teeth and restorations to excessive forces.

Over time, these forces may contribute to wear, chipping or other restoration problems.

DO YOU GRIND OR CLENCH?

You may want to discuss it with your dentist if you:

  • Grind your teeth during sleep

  • Frequently clench your teeth

  • Wake up with jaw soreness

  • Notice significant tooth wear

  • Have experienced repeated restoration damage

PROTECTING YOUR RESTORATION

If you grind or clench your teeth, your dentist may recommend additional protection such as a custom night guard, depending on your individual situation.

Do not purchase or use a dental appliance without discussing it with your dentist.

REMEMBER

A strong restoration still needs a healthy and well-managed bite.

If you think you grind or clench, talk to your dentist.
