JUST GOT A NEW CROWN?
Here is everything you need to know to protect your new smile.
Congratulations on your new crown. A dental crown is designed to restore your tooth's function, strength and appearance. With the right care and regular dental visits, you can help keep your restoration looking and functioning well.
YOUR FIRST 24 HOURS
The first day is mainly about allowing your mouth to your new restoration and following your dentist's instructions.
DO
Wait until the numbness has completely worn off before eating.
Follow any specific instructions given by your dentist.
Start with comfortable foods if the area feels sensitive.
Brush and clean around the crown gently.
DONT
Don't chew while your mouth is still numb.
Don't deliberately test the crown by biting very hard.
Don't chew ice or extremely hard objects.
Don't ignore a bite that feels noticeably higher than your other teeth.
